Scripture: Mark 7:24-30 She begged him to cast out the demon out of daughter… And she home and found the child lying in bed and the demon gone (v26b, 30).
Observe I assume she wanted Jesus to come to where her daughter was. Instead, he healed from a distance. She had to trust his word and leave him to see if her daughter had been healed or not. She had to take him at his word and act, and only then find out if what he said was true and the demon had, if fact, left her daughter.
Applications Faith always trusts in the unknown. You’ve got to live it in order to find out if it’s true. Take these devotionals, for example. I’ve got to believe God honours my (feeble!) attempts to know him, regardless of what it feels like for me. So I have faith and though it’s sometimes hard, it’s good. Do I believe that? Yes.
Life applications for today I value God and I value Scripture and prayer. Even if doubt, live like I value them. I know I do, but not always. I have learned not to trust my doubts. I’m not like I’m trusting the unknown. After all, do I have faith or do I not? Yes, I do.
Prayer Lord, I know that ‘devos’ feed my soul and honour you. Thank you. And when I do doubt, help me.
