Two Small Coins

Scripture:  Mark 12:41-44    For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.

Observe    An act of courage and trust, with no one to provide for her, she is obedient, counting on God (I think) to care for her. Jesus marveled at this! After all his interactions with the Scribes (see the rest of Chapter 12), interactions based on intellectual concerns, here he is faced with a wordless act that spoke more to him than all the interactions before: a poor widow outstripping the religious professionals. Here is faith!

Applications    Faith is lived. Despite all the head-knowledge, putting into action is what matters.  A single act of faith is way more meaningful than tons of ‘accurate’ thinking. So, where do I put my faith into action? Can I identify even one area?

Life application for today    Look for ways to put my faith into action by trusting and serving the LORD.
Prayer   Holy Spirit, give me open eyes to see those opportunities and then the courage to take. (Even the fact that I need to ask for courage is telling! Help me.)
