Scripture: Proverbs 2, especially v20 Then you will walk in the ways of good and keep to the paths of the righteous.
Observation Whom does our culture idolize? We idolize celebrities, movie stars, singers… But would we want to be like them or live for what they live? I doubt it. It’s interesting that we idolize them but at the same time we have tremendous respect for those who live differently than the ‘stars’. We respect faithfulness, integrity, integrity, and character. But we don’t see them much in our culture, and we don’t seek for ourselves to become people who exhibit faithfulness, and integrity. In short, people of wisdom.
Applications Who are my heroes? Billy Graham, Martin Luther, and countless others. Why? They had the integrity that flows from their fear of the LORD. These are the good people in whose ways I want to walk. The only way to do this is to fear the LORD myself and to cry out for his Wisdom. And I hope my children will want to walk in my ways.
Life application for today I will pay attention to my ways and ask myself, ‘Are they in the ways of good men?’
Prayer Lord, help to walk in the ways of good people who have gone before me.
